Commissions
What is a commission doll? A commission is a special order doll. It is for those who
have a specific idea and would like a doll artist to create it.
What do you do to a commission doll? I give the doll a complete facial repaint,
sometimes (if necessary) I give them a partial or complete reroot or apply a wig. They
are given a completely different outfit to match the look you are wanting for your doll.
Depending on what you want, the accessories could include jewelry, weapons, props,
etc. also. All dolls come with a doll stand to be displayed on.
How much is a commission doll? Most commission dolls done by Butterfly Designs run
around $100 per doll (this excludes the mermaids as they start at $150). However, the
materials the buyer wishes to use, as well as the difficulty of the project can make the
cost go up slightly. (eg: accessories like hard to make weapons, extravagant jewelry, etc.)
Do you offer discounts? Absolutely! I offer a $25 per doll discount after the first doll!
(eg: $25 off a two doll commission, $50 off a three doll commission, $75 off a four doll
commission, and so on)
How much do I have to pay up front? I have two payment options available for
customers as listed below:
Option #1:
Buyer pays ½ up front, the remaining ½ plus shipping costs when the doll is done and has
been approved
through emailed photos. (eg: $100 doll commission - $50 up front, $50 plus shipping
when done)
Option #2 (only available when ordering more than one doll):
Buyer pays 1/3 (or materials costs, whichever is more), up front, another 1/3 within two
weeks of first payment, the remaining ½ plus shipping costs when the doll is done and has
been approved through emailed photos. (eg: $175 doll commission - $60 up front, $60 in
two weeks, $55 plus shipping when done)
How do I contract you for a commission? First off you need to contact me and tell me
your idea (including pictures really helps as it makes sure you get exactly what you are
looking for). I will then estimate the cost of materials and difficulty to give you an
accurate estimate (like said earlier, most dolls (excluding mermaids) run around $100.
Once we both agree on the look and the price, I will send you an invoice through PayPal
(you must have PayPal to contract me for a commission) for your first payment due (either
option #1 or #2 above). Once the first payment is received I will begin
purchasing/gathering materials for the doll(s).
How long does it take to get my doll(s)? This depends on my current orders. It
generally only takes between two and three weeks to complete a commission doll.
However, if others have contracted me, their dolls will need to be finished, as they are
first in line. You can tell how many I have contracted ahead of you by viewing the buttons
below that state “currently being made”.
